Overview

This guide provides step-by-step instructions for activating and retrieving the token(s) required to set up KBART Automation for Sage products with your Discovery Service Provider (DSP). This implementation works with OCLC WorldCat and Ex Libris Alma.

Before You Begin

Please determine if you need tokens from both our admin systems: Sage Journals and Secure Center. The token from the Sage Journals system will enable the implementation with journals except Gold Open Access journals. The token for Secure Center will enable the implementation with Sage's Learning Resources, including Sage Research Methods (except Sage Research Methods Foundations), CQ Press Books, Sage Business*, Sage Skills*, Sage Video*, and Sage Reference & Books*. *These products were formerly known as Sage Knowledge.

Please note, KBART Automation is not set up with Sage Research Methods Foundations, CQ Researcher, Sage Data, Sage Campus, other CQ Press products (outside of CQ Press Books), and Catalyst.

Secure Center KBART Automation Step-by-Step Instructions


Library account administrators can turn the service on by generating their institution’s token in Secure Center and linking it within Ex Libris Alma or OCLC WorldCat. Please follow the instructions below to do so:


  1. Log in to Secure Center.
  2. Navigate to your "Account Detail" section: 
  3. Click on "Electronic Holdings Automation" in the right-hand side bar: 
  4. Click on "Generate Token": 
  5. Select “OCLC WorldCat Discovery”, before clicking on "Add new": 
  6. Click on "Copy" to get the institution ID copied to your clipboard: 
  7. Register the token in Ex Libris Alma or OCLC WorldCat Discovery Service system, depending on which system you use. Please find instructions on how to do this here:

While Sage Research Methods Foundations is supported by automation not every content item will be listed in your systems. If you'd like to ensure usage-driving discoverability for this product, please activate this collection manually.
